Birthday cake, 8 houseguests, and the ER.

I know I have not blogged in a long time.

Let me say that Henry and Dan are playing on the living room floor right now, and doing well. At one am in the emergency room last night, I was not so sure today would be so relaxing as it has been. Here's a recap of a very exciting first birthday...

We were able to get everything ready in time for the big birthday bash on Saturday. The party went well, and it was great to have everyone here. (More on that later...)

Henry was great all day, and went to bed at about 8:45pm.
I always have a monitor on so I can hear him when I am downstairs.
I checked on him at 10:00pm and asked Dan to put a humidifier in his room as he sounded congested.
At 10:30, we heard him coughing, and went up to check. By the time we were upstairs, his breathing was very labored, and he had Stridor (That goes with the Croup.)
I tried taking him into the shower, and his breathing got worse and worse. He threw up twice, and we decided to go to Emergency room.

His airway was closing. They have him a breathing treatment and a steroid shot, and he was breathing much better. We were there until after 1am. I was so sick after it happened, I just wanted to collapse.

Sometimes, it's really scary to be a parent.

Well, Happy first birthday little man. You've earned your first ER visit, and your Mommy's first near heart attack. I love you.
M.
